2021-2022 Registration Information and Return to Play Plan

Dear Brampton Hockey Families,

We are excited to have hockey restarting for the 2021-2022 season and re-acquainting with old and new friends.  Brampton Hockey will be transparent and aligned with Provincial Health on our return to play communications.  This will include costs, scheduling and allowable numbers in the rinks including the ice requirements.  Registration will open in early July 2021.

This year BHI as well as other hockey associations across Canada will use a new registration program developed for Hockey Canada HCR 3.0

Please read all information thoroughly.  All players will register in Recreational League (regardless of intentions to attend rep tryouts) for their actual division based on year of birth.

Registration is not considered complete or confirmed until full payment has been received and the one-time Parent Respect in Sport Online course has been completed. If you sign up and pay for the RIS course you will not be reimbursed by BHI. If you have completed this already, please do not repeat.  New players will also be required to submit proof of age and residency prior to registration being confirmed.

Parents/guardians registering their players are required to read through this material prior to registering.  By registering for the season, the family acknowledges their understanding of, and agreement with all the following:

New Login:  Hockey Canada has updated its platform.  You will be required to create a new account.  Please use your personal email and not a work email or alias that may change.  BHI can no longer change passwords.

  • New to Brampton? Please note that if your child has previously played for another Centre, you will be unable to register with BHI until an Association Transfer has been completed through the OMHA.  To initiate a transfer, please forward your child's name, address and date of birth to [email protected]
  • Special Requests: Brampton Hockey Inc. does not accept special requests to play for coaches or with friends.  Our focus is team balancing, in an attempt to ensure every player in the association has a fair and equitable season.
  • Refund Policy: Please refer to this season’s Refund Policy posted on our website.

2021-2022 Registration Fees

BHI will only be accepting registrations payments online through HCR 3.0

U7 & U6                  2015 & 2016            $560.00

U5                         2017                        $395.00

Special Needs                                        $350.00

Brampton Non Resident Fee                    $100.00

Information on fees, financial assistance and how to register can be found HERE Questions regarding registration can be sent to [email protected]

Our return to play plan will adhere to all Provincial, City of Brampton and OHF safety mandates.  Brampton Hockey has determined preliminary tryouts dates, start of the season and costs associated to the “Brand/Colour” transition.    This preliminary information will be very fluid and may adjust timing and costs to run a representative program.

We will continue to provide more communication as we receive them from the Provincial Health, OHF and OMHA.  We will continue planning to ensure we are prepared to start the season off with limited interruptions

  • Our Season:
    • Ice Schedule:   The season schedule is typically available online as of the end of summer, once the City has released our ice permits and registration numbers are finalized.  We do our best to keep the Recreational League schedule the same from season to season, however alterations to times may be necessary depending upon availability of ice.

Recreational League to start on October 16, 2021

·         Information to be posted on our website as it becomes available

Parent Responsibilities

  • Online Schedules and Information: Please check our website regularly for updates regarding tryouts, schedules, and other pertinent information.   Information regarding funding programs, mandatory hockey equipment, and schedules can all be found on the website. Once the season has started, it is the parent’s responsibility to check their schedule weekly.  BHI is not responsible for missed games due to scheduling changes.

  • BHI Policies: All Members of the BHI including parents, players and volunteers are required to familiarize themselves with, and abide by all BHI policies, including the BHI Code of Conduct, Helmet Policy etc. The documents can be found on our website.

Tryout Process:

We will continue with our online pre-registration tryout passport to eliminate large gatherings and manage times slots for players trying out.  We are also looking at tryout jerseys for this year due to Covid-19 restriction and they will be included in the price of the tryout passport.  This jersey will be used as part of team practices going forward.

The approved calendar assumes a return to traditional hockey without COVID-19 restrictions. Over the next number of months, the OHF is committed to reassessing its Return to Hockey Framework to identify necessary amendments to accommodate Ontario Law should it become evident that COVID-19 restrictions remain in place to start the 2021-22 season.

With the fall tryouts this year, it has imposed new challenges with planning for uniforms, equipment, and team apparel.  To ensure our teams are ready to go when the season starts, we will have families complete and return the order form for jersey, socks, and if applicable, hockey pants, gloves, helmets, and team apparel requirements.

We are working with Sportfix our uniform supplier to provide options for shopping and sizing items.  They will follow all public health guidelines and will consist of private appointments, outdoor fitting, and a telephone order system.   We encourage families to shop early and utilize these alternative channels to ensure your child has everything they need for the upcoming season.

Contact, Mike (905-866-3814) and John (416-735-9215) at Sportfix and they will be happy to assist you with your hockey uniform, equipment, and apparel purchases or questions. Outdoor fitting schedules will be posted once Peel restrictions are removed.

We will do our best for game jersey number preference and they should be supplied on the completed uniform form.  Alternatively, numbers will be selected from 2-16 for players and 1 & 30 for the goalies.

As per previous years, equipment orders are paid for at time of fitting. Sportfix will have both CCM and Bauer helmets and gloves available, although you can purchase these items at any retail outlet.  Pants, Pant Shells and Bags will have the Brampton logo and must be purchased at Sportfix.  There is limited stock available now, and orders will be placed with the suppliers as needed.  Ordered product will arrive late September, with the exception of Pant Shells.  These are not expected to arrive until late November.
