Our Initiation Program
Brampton Hockey Initiation Program

For the 2017-2018 season Brampton Hockey will be following the Hockey Canada Initiation program for our players born after 2010. This change however does not impact our ability to provide our players with the training that meets their current skill level while challenging them to achieve the next level of play in their personal development.

Our Saturday morning program will have the players broken into teams based on age and skill level. This will be determined through a 3 week evaluation period, where players will be tested on fundamental skills. The evaluation will be conducted by members of our Hockey Development and Academy members. At the end of the period players will be assigned to the proper level and introduced the the parent coaches and instructors that will be working with them through the season.

All teams will be taking part in pre-planned development session lead by our Instructors and Coaches. These session will follow closely the Hockey Canada development plan.

OMHA IP OVERVIEW - MINI HANDOUT

The program will include small area games at the end of each session. As the season progresses we will schedule designated game days.

In addition to our Saturday morning programs we will also be offering additional programs twice per week for all Initiation players that want additional training. These session will be lead by Next Pro Hockey and will have a high focus on skating. The programs will run in 5 week periods starting October 2nd on Mondays and Thursdays for $125.

For our 6 year olds who are identified through the evaluation as being above average, there will be a separate program to continue working on their advance skills.

As the OMHA is still working on the fine details of the half ice implementation, there is still a chance that these players can take part in half ice games against other centers in a Rosters Select program.
