Don Montgomery Tournament Champions!
Midget Brampton 45 select team were very optimistic heading into their first tournament of the season.  Competition was tough with a 6 team division.

Friday night Tournament opener we edged Cumberland 3-2 in an exciting opening game.  Game 2 and 3 both ended in ties.  First one against Willowdale 0-0 and then Stouffville 2-2 who were up 2-0 until Gavin Park and Johnny Nobrega scored late in the game to advance us to the semi finals against a good Scarborough team.

Prepared a little different for Sunday.  Line up's and strategy changed a bit to try and score more goals.  Josh Relic opened the scoring to give us a 1-0 lead early on.  Teams got into penalty trouble which Scarborough took advantage of scoring to tie the game up at 1.  The boys battled, competed hard every shift and finally got rewarded with  Justin Mclean scoring the game winner to advance us to the Championship game.

Playing the 4-0 North York Knights, who were the top team in the division we knew our game had to be better.  Puck pressure, playing hard without the puck,  lots of pucks to the net and most important discipline would be key factors to victory.  We certainly played our best game by far being consistent every shift and the out come showed.   Brampton 45's Select beat North York Knights 5-1 to become the Don Montgomery Tournament Champions!  Everyone played fantastic !  It certainly was a team effort.  Arjun Syan was the game MVP with 2 goals, last minute call up Sachin Sharma made an impact scoring twice and adding an assist.  Johnny Nobrega scored as well.  Our goalie Xavier Dumais Gendron was solid in net all weekend and gave us a chance to win every game.  I think it's fair to say Xavier was Tournament MVP for our team.  Couldn't be more proud of this group.  At times frustrated with normal hockey game situations but they stuck together as a team and pulled through in exciting fashion.  Congrats Everyone!  Well deserved victory!
