Congratulations
to the Brampton Intra-City Atom Bulldogs team, who were silver medalists in the
42nd annual Heritage Select Tournament, sponsored by the Oshawa
Church Hockey League on Feb 3-5.
The Bulldogs earned an opening game 1-1 tie against the home team Oshawa (OCHL) Hawks, in which the team gave up the tying goal with 5 seconds remaining, while shorthanded and with the opposition having pulled their goalie. The following two games were both victories, 3-0 vs. the Coronation Bengals, and 2-1 vs. the Kingston Canadians, with the lone goal against the boys coming with less than 1 second on the clock in the “A” semi-final game. Yes – the team was a combined 6 seconds from going into the finals with 3 consecutive shutouts. As a result of these 3 unbeaten games, the Bulldogs were off to the “A” pool championship final game against the Ottawa Renegades.
The final game was played at the Tribute Community Centre, home of the Oshawa Generals on Sunday morning. While the final result was not in favour of the Bulldogs, as they came up on the short end of a 2-0 score, the players can all be proud of winning silver medals in their final tournament of the season. Well done Bulldogs – you all worked hard during the tournament. In addition, the players all provided the friends and family watching in the stands with some exciting hockey over the 3 days.
Go Bulldogs
