Brampton Black Wins Rebels Tourney!
Brampton Black really buckled down defensively in the Thornhill Rebels tournament this past weekend. It was a fantastic display of great backchecking, gap control, defensive positioning, and goal tending. Over a five game stretch the team only gave up 1 goal, which came in the third period of the finals.
The final test came against a very strong Ennismore BB team, who applied steady pressure throughout the final game. Ennismore broke the shut out streak in the third period on a two-on-one, when they blasted a shot that struck the crossbar and may have also hit some net. It was ruled a goal. Some in the stands disagreed with the call, but the ref was well positioned on the play.
"It was a tough call" coach Luddington said. "But I didn't argue it. I believed in my team. I knew they could overcome the adversity and they did. That's the kind of young men we've got. They aren't going to let a tough call get them off their game."
And they didn't. They closed the game out, winning 2-1.
Well done Brampton Black!
