Midget MD Gold was presented a Community Group Award at a special event by the Accessibility Advisory Committee by the City of Brampton for outstanding contribution and commitment to promoting accessibility awareness.

The accessibility Awards recognizes a community member, group and businesses who prevent and remove barriers to accessibility, accommodate persons with disabilities, act as an accessibility ambassador, provide employment support for persons with disabilities, provide exemplary customer service and contribute to persons with disabilities living independently.

The team has welcomed Steven, a young man with Cerebral Palsy onto their team and into their family including him in all off-ice activities, team gatherings and any other event they are involved in where he can participate. Steven does not miss a game or practice.

Recently, the team participated in the "Respect the Space" campaign to help raise awareness about unauthorized use of Accessible Parking and the affect that has on Steven and others who require those spaces. Steven has had to park further away from a building than normal due to unauthorized use (either with a sticker or someone simply using another individuals sticker in their vehicle) on numerous occasions and the team hopes to help prevent this by participating in this campaign.

You can check out a video made for this campaign which includes the team and Steven and hopefully it will make you think twice about ever using a Accessible Parking spot without authorization to do so.

Congratulations to the Midget MD Gold players, coaching staff and parents on your award and making the world a better place for all!
