Please continue reading for a message from our VP REP - Chris Fiore in regards to the 2020-21 Brampton 45's (REP) uniforms.

I hope you and your families are all safe and well during these unprecedented times that we are currently faced with.

Normally, we would currently be right in the middle of AAA tryouts followed by weeks of tryouts to finish off all other levels. Normal April tryout anxiety has been replaced by a different anxiety in which an end is unknown. There are not many “hockey” updates I can share with you because quite simply, there are none. We have no idea when this will end, when hockey will resume, what the plan will look like when it does resume or what kind of impact it will have when we finally do resume. What I can provide for you will be regular updates when we receive them from Hockey Canada and the direction of Brampton Rep Hockey.

As most of you were aware, before the shutdown of the hockey world (and the rest of the world), the Rep committee was researching different uniforms and a different look for the Brampton 45's Rep program. Since that time a lot of changes and information has been identified that directly impacts the Brampton 45's Rep Hockey identity.

First and foremost, the Brampton 45's will no longer be utilizing the current colour scheme and will be changing its colouring brand effective the 2020/21 season. Reasons for this decision will be explained within this communication. While conducting uniform research, a major production distribution issue was identified.  The current black colour scheme and jersey utilized by the Brampton 45's teams is custom made which means the jerseys are not carried in stock with vendors and are specifically made for Brampton Hockey each year.

Starting next year, the 2020-21 season, the Ontario Hockey Federation Novice and Atom Player Pathway will be introduced which affects all of its member partners including the OMHA, Alliance, GTHL, NOHA and OWHA.  Within the Pathway, an included stipulation that MUST be followed is "No player tryouts prior to or during the first week of school".  Therefore, tryouts for these age groups will not be completed until the first week of October.  There is also a possibility this could affect the Peewee age group as well in the future.  This issue has been magnified with the current COVID-19 outbreak.  With ALL Spring tryouts cancelled, we are going to be under extremely tight deadlines to satisfy the equipment and uniform demands of our organization.

Consequently, the current Brampton 45 custom made jersey and colour scheme is simply no longer an option. To have custom jerseys sized, ordered and manufactured in time for the start of hockey seasons moving forward will not be possible.  Brampton Hockey is essentially forced to turn to a stock colour jersey in order to satisfy the demands of our organization uniform order.

This was one of the major reasons behind the colour change for the 75th Anniversary jersey implemented by our Planning Committee as a traditional black "Brampton 45" coloured stock jersey simply does not exist.

As a result, Brampton Hockey has no choice but to move on from the traditional "black" uniform and will be implementing a navy blue colour scheme (uniform and equipment) starting the 2020-21 season.  The organization is aware that this will be an added and unexpected cost to the membership but we have been working with our vendor to obtain reasonable pricing for the pants, gloves and bags that will be mandated Brampton Hockey equipment.

We have created an equipment package with our vendor that will supply our membership with these equipment pieces at the cost of $385 (tax included). As helmets are more of a custom fit type of equipment (with vast sizing, comfort and protection models) members will have the option to purchase on their own but will still be offered on fitting days.  Regardless of where helmets are purchased, they are required to be navy blue.

As we move forward I will continue to keep you updated with hockey programming as I receive it. Although we do not know when hockey programming will resume, we are still working to ensure we will be ready when it does, whenever that may be.

Thank you and stay safe,

Chris Fiore
