Announcement from the Brampton Hockey Executive
Submitted By Andrea Thomson on Thursday, April 1, 2021
On Behalf of Brampton Hockey

A difficult decision has been made by Brampton Hockey to cancel all hockey operations for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season.  I am sure that this does not come as much surprise considering that we been in lockdown since November and continue to be so. Presently we are working towards resuming normal hockey activities and season(s) come September and we are hopeful that we will resume to some type of game play for the 2021-22 season. . Since our Recreational players have been previously refunded earlier in the year the statement below will be for the remaining Representative Players that are still registered with Brampton Hockey.

To all Rep Coaches, Players, and Families,

I am writing to you today to announce the difficult decision made by Brampton Hockey to cancel all hockey operations for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season.  Being locked down since November it is not a realistic option, considering skill development and player safety, to return to play competitively against other centres who have continued to practice and develop, should we even get to that stage.  It has been a difficult year but we continue to work hard off the ice preparing for programming moving forward.

 What this means moving forward...

The final April 15th payment scheduled for rep budgets will be cancelled and a refund will be issued at that time to all teams.  Each team will then disseminate a refund of $111.27 to each family.

For AAA players at U16 and U18 there is the option to be placed in other centres that continue to have programming, pending space availability.  For those players, please forward me your information which I will forward to the OMHA who will facilitate any potential moves.

Brampton Hockey, the rep committee and hockey development remain committed to getting players back on the ice and player development.  We are in continuous discussions with the City of Brampton to secure ice for our coaches as soon as recreation centres open up for our players to return to the ice and start preparing for next season.  We are also planning for spring and summer skill development programming for our players in preparation of next season.  More information regarding this will be sent once finalized with the city.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this time.  We look forward to moving beyond the lockdown stage and running around again from rink to rink.

 Thank you and stay safe,
Chris Fiore
VP Representative
