The U12A Brampton 45s were in Welland this past weekend for the Little NHL Tournament. In the round robin, after wins against George Bell Titans and Whitby Wildcats (White), the 45s lost a tough game against the Erie North Shore Storm. In an early morning must win game, the 45s convincingly beat Buffalo Regals 6-0 to setup a rematch against undefeated Erie in the U12A finals. The 45s got off to a hot start with 2 quick goals but quickly fell into penalty trouble as they spent half of their game down one or even two players. After Erie scored an early 3rd period goal on a 5vs3 to cut the 45s lead in half at 2-1, the 45s were able to regain their 2-goal cushion with a goal midway through the 3rd. A late Erie goal was not enough and the U12A 45s were able to hold on and win Welland’s Little NHL Tournament by a score of 3-2 .
