Brampton Hockey’s Recreational season runs from September to March, and is open to players of all skill levels and offers various programming options. Evaluations for some of the competitive-level teams do take place in the Spring (May/June) in preparation for the upcoming season.

 

 

timbits LEARN TO PLAY: U5 – U7

Makes the first strides in the game a safe and positive experience, introducing first-timers to basic skills. Kids become members of a team, develop self-confidence and experience personal achievement, all through fun and fair play.

·        Open to players ages 4–6 years old

·        Must know how to balance on skates and be able to stand up on their own

·        One 1-hour development session and one game each week

·        Participation in the Weekend of Champions (end of season celebration)

·        Led by Performance Hockey Academy

NHL/NHLPA FIRST SHIFT: U7 – U11

Designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families, it aims to take away any intimidation as it relates to equipment requirements, and/or rules of the game, remove potential safety concerns, and most importantly, provide an experience that is memorable and fun.

·        Open to players ages 6–10 years old

·        Must know how to balance on skates and be able to stand up on their own

·        One 1-hour session each week

·        Six week programs in Fall and Winter

·        Learn more about First Shift

 

 

HOUSE LEAGUE: U8 – U21

Our core recreational program that provides a complete hockey experience including: practices, development, games, tournaments, and fun events.

·        Open to players ages 7–20 years old*

·        One 1-hour practice and one game each week (U8-U16)

·        One-to-two games each week (U17-U21)

·        Five development sessions with a certified development instructor (U8-16)

·        Participation in the Neville Woolridge tournament (Family Day weekend)

·        Participation the Weekend of Champions (end of season celebration)

·        Opportunity to advance to the North Peel Local League Championship (U10-21)


Evaluations will begin at the end of September where coaches will assess player abilities through development sessions and drills over the first few weeks. Teams will then be created to ensure they are equally balanced based on skill level, for the official season start mid-October.

 

U9 teams (7 to 8 year old players) play half-ice hockey for the first three months of the season, and transition to full-ice shortly after the new year.

 

While our priority is to ensure that recreational teams are balanced based on skill-level, we also understand the impact that playing alongside a close friend / family member can make, as well as the value of carpooling. Please complete the Special Request form and we will do our best to accommodate your request, but note that it is not guaranteed.

 

 

 

ADVANCED DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (ADP): U7 – U13

With limited spots available, the ADP is for players who are looking for additional individual skill development:

·        Open to all recreational players ages 6-13

·        One 1-hour development session per week

·        Seven week programs in Fall and Winter (Nov. 7 - Dec. 19, 2024  + Jan. 16 - March 6, 2025)

·        Focus includes edgework, puck skills, stickhandling, shooting, etc.

·        Led by consistent certified development instructor from Wild Wolf Hockey



 

MINOR DEVELOPMENT (MD): U7 – U9

A more competitive and enhanced hockey program that provides better stepping-stones between Recreational and Representative A-level programming, where players participate exclusively in the Tri-County Minor Development League.

·        Open to all players ages 6-8

·        Dedicated MD Coach

·        Tiered team based on player evaluations*

·        Two 1-hour practices/development sessions weekly

·        14 hours of professional development instruction

·        Four-to-five games monthly (local + travel)

·        Three-or-more tournaments (at Coach’s discretion)

 

 

 

ADVANCED LEAGUE (PART-TIME): U10 – U15*

A hybrid program where players participate in the House League program as well as belong to a competitive team who participate in the Tri-County Advanced League at a part-time level.

·        Open to all recreational players ages 9-14

·        Dedicated Advanced League Coach

·        Tiered team based on player evaluations*

·        Mandatory participation in House League + ADP

·        One 1-hour Advanced League practice bi-weekly

·        Two-to-three Advanced League games monthly (local + travel)

·        Two-or-more Advanced League tournaments (at Coach’s discretion)

 

 

 

ADVANCED LEAGUE (FULL-TIME): U12 – U18

A more competitive and enhanced hockey program that provides better stepping-stones between Recreational and Representative A-level programming, where players participate exclusively in the Tri-County Advanced League.

·        Open to all players ages 11-17

·        Dedicated Advanced League Coach

·        Tiered team based on player evaluations*

·        Two 1-hour practices/ development sessions weekly

·        14 hours of professional development instruction

·        Four-to-five Advanced League games monthly (local + travel)

·        Two-to-three exhibition games monthly (local + travel)

·        Three-or-more Advanced League tournaments (at Coach’s discretion)

 

 

 

*Evaluations (tryouts) take in place in the Spring (May/June) for U10-U18, and September for U7-U9
