The Midget AE team got the surprise of a lifetime when the folks at Coca-Cola decided they would show up at their practice on Sept 26th
While the unsuspecting players were on the ice for a "mandatory" practice, representatives from Coca-Cola’s marketing Agency, Mosaic, decked out the team dressing room in red and white Leaf jerseys and Coca-Cola paraphernalia; all the while filming the team practice under the disguise of a local newspaper and community program story. When the kids stepped into the room after practice, they were delighted to learn that Coca-Cola was putting them all on a luxury coach to head downtown to watch the Leafs vs Habs preseason game in a private box.
The Midget AE team were Coca-Cola’s guests for the night with plenty of food and Coca-Cola beverages on hand. They also got a surprise visit from Brad May and Shayne Corson, two classy guys that took the time to meet each player and have some fun conversation. The Leaf's in-game host stopped by the box as well for a highlight video broadcast on the big screen during a stoppage in play.
Team member Jake Barry had an opportunity to go on the ice during the first intermission to try to shoot 25 pucks from center ice into the net. Jake did amazing with a total of 19 pucks scored. Each puck had a different name on it, and everyone in the stands with one of the names received a free tee shirt. With 19 scored, the lineup outside the Leafs gift shop filled the hallway with lucky fans.
