45s Fall Just short of Kingston Semis
The Brampton 45s MMA team found themselves up against very stiff competition at the recent Kingston Tourney. Several top ten and top twenty Ontario teams were present. Every team was a good team.

The tourney would be tough, but the 45s managed to turn a few heads when they managed to get ahead 3-1 against Stittsville in their first game. Unfortunately, a few defenses lapses tied the game up late in the third, and that's how the game ended.

In game two, the 45s went up against 12th ranked Ottawa, and they once again proved they can hang with top teams. Mid-way through the third the 45s were trailing 1-0 when they were awarded a 5 minute powerplay. However, the opportunity to tie was squandered when a lack of discipline resulted in several Brampton penalties. The game eventually ended 2-0.

Game three ended in a 2-1 win over 27th ranked Gloucester, and the 45s were back in the running for the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the team unraveled in game four against the host team Kingston, and they lost 2-0.

Looking back on the tourney, it's hard to not be a little disappointed. With a little more defensive discipline in game one, or penalty discipline in game two, or effort in game four, the 45s would have qualified for the semis against a very tough field. We would have showed we can play with great A teams!

So let's all look in the mirror. What little things could we have done for the team? Could we have been more disciplined, more focused, or given more effort? There's lots of season left... lots of opportunity to show we can be a great team. Let's learn from the experience and finish the season strong.

Go Brampton go!
